One small town and the sea that left it

The town was drawn in thirty-nine quarters before anyone lived in it. Two thirds of them are still grass. The site is filed the same way.

Section III of VI

The Gates

Three arches standing in fields.

Three arches survive, and the wall they were built to anchor does not. These quarters deal with the defences as evidence — of the size the town expected to be, of the attacks that came, and of the point at which the money stopped.
