Case study: re-opening the Little Shop at Winchelsea

The future

The one major new business line into which the shop can expand is an off-licence. There will be (with some imaginative shuffling of stock) just enough room to display and store a reasonable range of alcohol. An off-licence will be important for the viability of the shop. The increased turnover should push the business firmly above break-even.

As mentioned earlier, the future management of the shop is the other major challenge for the future. Specifically, we need to organise a transition from the current dependence on one or two energetic volunteers to management by a well co-ordinated Management Committee without compromising the standards that are the hallmarks of the Little Shop.
