Formerly two cottages. 17th Century or earlier. Two storeys.
Four windows. Stone rubble with dressings and stringcourse
of red brick and grey headers. Tiled roof. Casement windows.
Cellar of about 1300 beneath the building.
Remains of the former Town Wall
in the grounds of St Mary's House to the north east of the

Part of the medieval town wall. Circa 1415. Stone rubble wall
about seven feet high and two feet thick.
The Mill Farmhouse and St Mary's
House

Former farmhouse, now subdivided. L-shaped building. 18th
Century. Two storeys and attic. Five windows. Three hipped
dormers. Ground floor of north west wing stuccoed and of south
east wing red brick. Above tile-hung. Tiled roof. glazing
bars intact. Vaulted cellar of about 1300 beneath the house.
The Pipewell or Land Gate

Grade I (listed 3 August 1961: amended 13 May 1987)
The second of the medieval gates of the town, also at one
time called the Ferry Gate. Rebuilt in the early 15th century
after the French had burned the town in 1380. Stone rubble.
Two four-centred archways with the lower portion of a square
tower over, though the centre of the roof above the archways
has fallen in. A Scheduled Ancient Monument.
